More than just a Rug
Now, my apartment is already set up. Everything seems to be fine after cleaning and redecorating for almost three days. My brother and I do all of the things together from moving big things like sofa, tables, cabinets, our beds, then going on to check up what are in bad condition such as the wooden frame of the table, chairs, doors, windows, cushions, and some other things, then we tried to fix them by ourselves. That is why the process tended to drag for days. Cleaning up the whole floor and equipments as well as accessories took the longest time. All of this unpredicted and impromptu hard work is just for welcoming Christmas.
Yesterday, I told my brother that the rug in the living room is already torn, and it is quite dirty. At first, we plan to take it to the Laundromat but the cost is quite expensive. My brother would rather have another new rug than have the old one cleaned for a high expense. In addition, he said that there is a good store that sells high quality but cheap rugs in the city. We are supposed to get one as soon as we could before the store runs out of stock due to Christmas.
This evening, after my brother finishes his work, we both go to the store and see around the place. There are plenty of rugs displayed in any various colors, shapes, motives and sizes. There must also be some different quality based on the material and function. My brother tells me that he is considering living set rugs that fit only for coffee table and some parts of the chairs or area rugs that could cover almost all corners of the room but with standard materials and motives.
Well, since he is the one who earns money and manages the whole thing in the apartment, I could only suggest him some options. The decision is all his. The most important thing for me is that we will have a new rug for our living room and we don’t have to look untidy. The rug we will have must be more than just a rug; it must be able to give more pacifying feeling when we touch and see it, and it should also be able to represent the character of the house owner. But again, it is just my suggestion. In whichever rugs my brother desires, that will symbolize us both and I will just agree with him.
